Dodge Rams have won Motor Trend magazine’s Truck of the Year award so many times that we have simply lost count of them all.
It all started way back in 1994, when the second-generation Ram won the
award for the first time. It wasn’t sheer luck either. For the first time in history, Dodge showed Americans
that a full-size pickup truck can have be functional and beautiful too. Not surprisingly, the sales of the
pickup doubled immediately after its release and has grown ever since. In this video, you get to see a Dodge Ram trying to fight its way out of a muddy ditch.
You can be seen him trying all kinds of maneuvers from using its power to building up momentum to get out of the
swampy mud. Clearly, the mud has a different idea of its own. It is a pleasure to see an off-road car do
what it is built for. But will dodge do it? Click on the video to see for yourself.
What you are seeing in this video is a Dodge Ram 2500, a 3/4 ton machine. Dodge has been making this
model since 2003 and over the years it has experimented this beast with a variety of engines from 5.7 L
Hemi V8 to a robust 6.7 L Cummins diesel to a whopping 8.0 L Magnum V10. However, the one in this
video is in all likelihood a 2009 Dodge Ram 2500, which comes with a 6.7 L Cummins engine. The diesel
version can churn out 350hp of power, with 650 pound-feet of torque.
One more thing – in the video you can see the Dodge trying to take advantage of its clearance and
excellent suspension to scuttle out of the pit. Its attempts are almost comical. Nevertheless, it can give
you a better understanding of how much useful, or not, this model can be in off-road conditions.
